Mantova

Also known as the "city of the three lakes", Mantua is situated on a peninsula and it is surrounded by three artificial lakes along the Mincio River Valley. Fascinating capital of the Renaissance, it is one of the most important cities in Italy from the artistic and cultural point of view, its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is surrounded by walls and lakes.

Mantua amazes for the many architectures and testimonies of its glorious past, related to the powerful Gonzaga family. It was here that many important personalities of art, music and literature were born, including the famous Andrea Mantegna, one of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, and Claudio Monteverdi, father of Italian opera.

Mantua is a popular destination not only among art lovers, but also among nature lovers thanks to the Mincio River Park, which is the home of an interesting flora and fauna, with native plant and animal species coming from Asia and the Pacific.

Finally, don’t forget its famous culinary traditions, with the notorious "tortelli di zucca" and the "sbrisolona" cake.
