Complete Program:
In the first two episodes we will take you to discover Ravenna: located a few km from the Adriatic Sea, in the heart of Romagna, Ravenna is a treasure chest of art, history and invaluable culture, guardian of an ancient and glorious past. Famous throughout the world for its beautiful mosaics, the city was the capital of the Western Roman Empire from 402 until its collapse in 476. The eight UNESCO heritage sites, its proximity to the "Adriatic Riviera" and its reputation as a gastronomic destination make Ravenna an exceptional destination.
Our journey will continue with the wonderful Bologna, a city of art, culture and commerce. Nicknamed the "Learned" for its ancient University and the "Fat" for its gastronomy, the city boasts one of the largest and best preserved medieval historical centers in Europe, in addition to almost 40 km of porticoes, the longest in the world.
In the last two episodes, two other splendid cities await us. Ferrara, inextricably linked to the noble Este family, was the capital of the Duchy of Ferrara, when it represented an important political, artistic and cultural center. The urban development that took place during the Renaissance, the Addizione Erculea, transformed the city into an urban model that earned it the title of "first modern capital of Europe". In 1995, it obtained recognition from UNESCO as a world heritage site for its historic center and in 1999 it obtained a second for the Po Delta and its Este delights.
We will therefore close with Parma, a city rich in artistic masterpieces, spacious green areas, small and large treasures from different eras. In addition to being famous for Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini, rightfully assuming a prominent place among the capitals of music, its rich gastronomic tradition should not be forgotten: first courses, cured meats and cheeses famous throughout the world. In fact, Parma was named a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2015.
Enjoy the show!
