The MI EXPERIENCE Prêt-À-Voyager tours are back to rediscover Italy through our guides, skilled artisans of unique experiences.
«Here the Genius shows itself»
The most modern district of Milan, a sign of its continuous industriousness and search for innovation, which outlines the skyline of the city with its characteristic 3 skyscrapers.
Modern yes, but not devoid of history. The area follows the space of the ancient Fiera Campionaria which, moved to the Rho-Fiera area, left an urban area of 225,000 square meters entirely to be redeveloped.
An area that was an international stage, already fertile ground for world-famous Designers and Architects. Without forgetting that, a few meters away, the Portello hosted Alfa Romeo from 1906 to 1986. A precious setting for the industrious Milan of design, industrial planning and... the most victorious cars in the world.
It is therefore no coincidence that internationally renowned architects have intervened, such as Arata Isozaki, designer of the second tallest skyscraper in Italy for Milan, Daniel Libeskind and Zaha Hadid, who also created the new MAXXI Museum in Rome in Italy.
Our itinerary begins with the evocative Fontana Delle Quattro Stagioni, designed by the architect Renzo Gorla in 1927 on the occasion of the opening of the old Fiera Campionaria, a testimony to the fusion between past, present and future that characterizes the city.
What was there before CityLife?
Walking along the avenues, we will discover the history of the area and its evolution over the centuries. Started in 2007, the CityLife project not only aims to create a modern Milan with three large skyscrapers, the Dritto, the Storto and the Curvo, but also reflects the new green soul of the city.
We will then discover the secrets of these splendid buildings, designed by 3 real Archi-stars! Skyscrapers, sculptures, hidden fountains and modern homes will be the backdrop to a splendid Milanese excursion.
Finally, we will push ourselves to the edges of the redeveloped area to admire the MiCo, the largest conference centre in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Designed by architect Mario Bellini, it contains 70 conference rooms and can accommodate up to 18,000 visitors. A futuristic structure that stands out for its sinuous silver roof in the shape of a "sail", an ideal connection with the "sail" of the new Rho-Pero exhibition center, designed by Massimiliano Fuksas.
A new tour, for all lovers of design, architecture, sculpture and urban planning.
We will discover an ancient and modern Milan, two souls that coexist to make it one of the most avant-garde cities in Europe, all immersed in a splendid (and fresh) Milanese sunset.
Because Milan is a great Milan.
